Lake Bridgeport Fishing Trip FAQs

Here are the questions I hear most. If yours isn’t on here, call or text me at 940-389-6141.

Getting on the Calendar

Booking and Pricing

How much does a fishing guide cost on Lake Bridgeport?

My half-day morning trip is $400 for up to three anglers, and the boat holds five. For groups of four or five, call or text me for pricing. If we fish past 3 PM, it’s $100 per person.

How long is a trip, and what time does it start?

Every trip is a half-day morning trip with 4 to 5 hours of fishing. I’ll confirm your meeting time when you book, and I aim to have everyone done by 3 PM.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

No. I don’t take deposits, so there’s nothing to pay up front to hold your date.

How do I book a trip?

Call or text me at 940-389-6141, or send a request through the Book a Trip page. Let me know your preferred date and how many people are coming.

When the Weather Turns

Weather and Cancellations

What happens if the weather is bad?

The captain always decides whether conditions are safe to fish. If they aren’t, we won’t go out, and we’ll work out a new date together.

What if I need to cancel?

Since there’s no deposit, you won’t lose any money. Please let me know as soon as you can so I can open the date up for someone else.

About the Lake

The Lake and the Fish

What fish are in Lake Bridgeport?

Lake Bridgeport holds largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, white bass, and hybrid striped bass, among others. My trips focus on hybrids and sand bass, and a lot of days we catch both.

Is Lake Bridgeport good for fishing?

I might be a little biased, but yes. It’s a big lake, nearly 12,000 acres, with plenty of deep water and structure, and the hybrids and sandies keep me busy year round.

Where is Lake Bridgeport?

Lake Bridgeport is in Wise and Jack counties in North Texas, just west of the town of Bridgeport. My trips leave from Runaway Bay on the south end of the lake.

How far is Lake Bridgeport from Fort Worth and Dallas?

Runaway Bay is about an hour from Fort Worth and Denton, and roughly an hour and a half from Dallas, depending on traffic and where you’re coming from.

Aboard the Boat

On the Boat

What kind of boat do you fish from?

A 22-foot center console with room for up to five anglers.

I’ve never been fishing. Is that okay?

Yes. No experience is needed. I’ll set up your rod, show you what to do, and help you land your fish.

Do you clean the fish?

Yes. I’ll clean your catch at the end of the trip so it’s ready to take home.

Do you guide year round?

Yes. I fish Lake Bridgeport all year, and hybrids and sand bass bite in every season.

Are you a licensed guide?

Yes. I’m a licensed Texas freshwater fishing guide.

Before You Go

Licenses and What to Bring

Do I need a fishing license?

Yes, if you’re 17 or older. Texas requires a valid fishing license with a freshwater endorsement to fish public waters like Lake Bridgeport. You can buy one online from Texas Parks and Wildlife or at most stores that sell hunting and fishing licenses. Anglers under 17 don’t need one.

Do I need to bring fishing gear or bait?

No. I provide all the rods, reels, tackle, and bait.

What should I bring?

Your fishing license, food and drinks, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and clothes for the weather. A light jacket or rain gear is a good idea most of the year, and bring a cooler with ice if you’re taking fish home.

Where do we meet?

At the Shell station at 250 US-380 in Runaway Bay, on the south end of Lake Bridgeport. I launch the boat at Runaway Bay Marina, and I’ll confirm your meeting time when you book.
